So sorry for the lack of posts! I’ve been super busy the last week or so with school and riding and I havn’t been on the computer the whole time! Reilly and I went to a jumper show last weekend which went fairly well! He never really settled which made for some forward rounds but it was a great first outing to blow off some steam. We just got back yesterday night from the Grandview Spring Horse Trials where we completed our first Pre-Training event of the season! Reilly warmed up super well in dressage and stayed super relaxed in our walk and trot. When I cantered his blood started going and he got a bit excited and ponyish! In the ring our test was rushed and a little tense but overall I was so pleased because it was 10 times better than I thought it would be! The sj warmup faces the xc field and so the whole time he was looking out at xc and I swear he thought we were warming up for it so he was super excited and forward but when we went into the show jumping ring It’s like I had a different horse! He was really listening and coming back when asked for the most part and we flew around without any issues. The xc course was super tame and I’m pretty sure they had some of the entry jumps on it soooo basically we flew around without any major issues. He was so great!! I love my little guy :) After dressage we were tied for second last, but then moved up 7 spots to 12th after 2 double clear jump rounds :)
We have a clinic with David Wilding-Davies next weekend which should be an absolute blast. I always love riding with David because he’s so fun and knows how to push you while also building yours and the horses confidence which isn’t easy to do! After that we’re off to Bromont!
I’ll post some pics from our outings :)
